ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The nationally ranked No. 22 Mount Union men's soccer team defeated Marietta 2-1 in overtime in the Quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament on Tuesday evening.
After a scoreless first half, the Pioneers (6-12-1, 4-5 OAC) took a 1-0 lead when Reggie Grayek found the back of the net in the 59th minute.Â
The Purple Raiders (16-2-1, 6-2-1 OAC) answered with a goal when senior
Jamon McCort (Magnolia / Sandy Valley) scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at one in the 77th minute.Â
Mount Union and Marietta would head to overtime tied at one, then senior
Omar Najjar (Akron / Revere) found fellow senior
Jon Szydlowski (Twinsburg) for the game winning goal in the 107th minute.Â
The Raiders advance to the OAC Semifinals on Thursday, November 2 at 7 p.m., when they travel to Ada, Ohio to take on Ohio Northern.
