Women's Basketball: Raiders Drop First OAC Match Up

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Mount Union women's basketball team hosted Ohio Northern in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon falling 69-50.

The Purple Raiders (5-3, 2-1 OAC) were led on offense by Ali Hudik (Mentor / Lake Catholic) and Reese Triplett (New Philadelphia / Tuscarawas Central Catholic) with eight points each. Freshman Elizabeth Mason (Alliance / Marlington) led with 5 rebounds.

Ohio Northern (4-3, 3-0 OAC) was led by Abi Akamine with 23 points.

FIRST QUARTER
The Purple Raiders were first to get on the board when Ali Hudik found the net. Within the first 2 minutes of the game, the Raiders would advance their lead to 6-0. The Polar Bears then went on a run ultimately taking the lead. The Raiders battled but came up short of having the first quarter in their favor. The Polar Bears led 20-15.

SECOND QUARTER
Dae Dae Nash (Akron / Buchtel) started out the second quarter scoring a 3 pointer. ONU continued to push their lead. The Raiders were unable to close the gap. The Polar Bears led 42-24 going into halftime.

THIRD QUARTER
The Raiders outscored ONU with 13 points in the third quarter, but ultimately fell short of taking the lead. The score remained in ONU's favor 54-37.

FOURTH QUARTER
The Raiders started off with a strong offense in the fourth quarter scoring 13 points. The Raiders fought but came up short with a final score of 69-50.

The Mount Union women's basketball team will travel to Columbus to take on Capital on Saturday December 16 at 2:00pm.
