Raiders Split The Weekend In Rochester

ROCHESTER, New York— No. 13 nationally ranked Mount Union's men's volleyball team split on Saturday afternoon with a five-set victory of SUNY Poly and lost in straight sets to No. 5 nationally ranked St. John Fisher.
 
In the first match Mount Union (9-3) beat SUNY Poly (3-9), 30-28, 21-25, 11-25, 25-11 and 16-14. Leading the Purple Raiders was senior Jakon Yarosh (Nova / Mapleton) and sophomore Camden Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz. / Agua Fria) with seven kills apiece.
 
Sophomores Max Kaiser (Lewis Center / Olentangy) and Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) finished with 16 and 15 assists in the game while Weeg and sophomore Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) finished with seven digs each.
 
SUNY Poly was led by Jason Aubrey who had 20 kills, Nathan Farnham with 43 assists and Jacob wicher with 14 digs.
 
The second match of the day saw two top 15 teams battle with Mount Union falling to St. John Fisher (12-3) with scores of 25-23 in each set.
 
Leading Mount Union was senior Cameron Ternent (Canal Fulton / Massillon Jackson) and junior Jack McClure (Massillon / Massillon Jackson) with 12 and 11 kills.
 
Heeney led the Raiders in assists with 32 while Armour played well in the backrow with 16 digs. Senior Andrew Cross (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Louis University High) stayed hot blocking with three solo and three assisted blocks.
 
Leading St. John Fisher was Josh Bigford and Jake Baker who had 12 kills each while Evan Ingerick had 35 assists and six digs.
 
Mount Union will head to Ashland, Va. to take on Roanoke College on Friday, February 17 at 5 pm hosted by Randolph Macon who the Raiders will take on Saturday at noon.
