BUCKHANNON, West Virginia—The mount Union women's lacrosse team got off to a hot start defeating West Virginia Wesleyan 21-2 Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (1-0) were led by senior
Sam Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) with five goals while senior
Julia Bates (East Lyme, Conn. / East Lyme) and sophomore
Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior) scored four goals each.
Senior
Madi Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) led the Raiders in points with six total as she had a goal and five assists.
West Virginia Wesleyan (0-2) was led by Emma Adcock and Gaidian Adams with one goal each.
Mount Union got off to a hot start as they scored in 54 second to start the season. Mount Union then proceeded to score eight more goals in the first quarter to lead 9-0. The second quarter saw Mount Union get five more goals to lead 14-0.
In the second half West Virginia Wesleyan got two goals to Mount Union's one goal in the third quarter. The Raiders finished off the final quarter holding West Virginia Wesleyan to no goals while scoring six.
Mount Union remains in West Virginia taking on Division II opponent Charleston tomorrow at 10 a.m.
