CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mount Union wrestling team concluded its trip to the NCAA Central Regional Championships which were hosted at Case Western Reserve University.
The Purple Raiders registered seven Top-8 finishes, including three fourth-place. As a team, Mount finished sixth out of 20 schools with 86.0 points.
Mount Union was close to punching tickets to the NCAA Championships in three different weight classes. Senior
Chris Anderson (Streetsboro, OH / Streetsboro) at 165 and junior
Jack Stanley (Brecksville, OH / Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) at 125 both lost the third-place match in sudden victory (overtime), and first-year
Nicholas Nettleton (Exeter, PA / Exeter Township) lost by a 2-1 decision at the 157 third-place match.
Earning three seventh-place finishes were first-years
Andrew Magness (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) at 133,
Ambrose Boni (Aliquippa, PA / Central Valley) at 141, and
Darese Sparkman (Massillon, OH / Massillon Perry) at 149. Senior
David Reinhart (Canfield, OH / Canfield) finished eighth at 174.
