ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team fell to Allegheny 13-10 in its home opener at Kehres Stadium Wednesday night.
The Purple Raiders (1-2) were led by
Connor Addison (Mishawaka, Ind. / South Bend) with four goals and an assist while
Grant Dunmire (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) scored three goals.
Logan Gunderman (Hamburg, N.Y. / Hamburg) made 16 saves for Mount Union while
Sean Hanson (Fairfax, Va. / W.T. Woodson) led the Raiders with eight ground balls.
Allegheny (2-0) was led by Aidan D'Amato with three goals and two assists while Gideon Sullivan scored three goals.
Mount Union got off to a hot start with the first three goals of the game while Allegheny battled back with two of their own as Mount Union led 3-2 after the first quarter.
Allegheny tied the game with the first goal of the second quarter, but Mount Union ended the quarter with four straight goals taking a 7-3 lead into halftime.
Both teams battled in the third quarter as there was not a run of goals from either team but Allegheny closed the lead down to 9-6 going into the final quarter.
Allegheny outscored the Raiders over the final quarter 7-1 and took the victory 13-10.
Mount Union now heads on the road once again to take on Westminster (Pa.) on Saturday, March 4 at 1 p.m.
