ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union men's lacrosse team fell in its Ohio Athletic Conference Opener 18-7 to Ohio Northern Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (3-5, 0-1 OAC) were led by
Logan Gebhart with three goals and two assists.
Connor Addison and
Logan Addonizio added a goal and two assists each.
Logan Gunderman was in goal for the Raiders making 12 saves while
Anthony Andreski and Liam Eriwn caused two turnovers. Addison led Mount Union in ground balls with five.
Ohio Northern (6-2, 1-0) was led by Tyler Ferguson with three goals, Cole Zaferakis made 11 saves and Nate Mitchell led in ground balls and caused turnovers with five and three.
Ohio Northern got the first two goals in the game and then a goal from Gebhart made the score 2-1. Ohio Northern went on a 13-0 run from there until the 1:19 mark left in the third quarter as Mount Union scored two goals to go down 15-3.
Ohio Northern got another goal right before the end of the third to lead 16-3. After a 45 minute thunderstorm delay Mount Union finished the fourth quarter strong outscoring Ohio Northern 4-2.
Mount Union will hit the road next Wednesday traveling to Marietta for a 7 p.m. start.
