Men's Volleyball: Raiders Sweep Baldwin Wallace; Atop MCVL In Three-Way Tie

BEREA, Ohio—The Mount Union men's volleyball team traveled to Baldwin Wallace for a Midwest College Volleyball League battle of top teams. The Purple Raiders came away with a sweep in sets of 25-21, 25-14 and 29-27 to now create a three-way tie atop the conference.
 
Mount Union (16-5, 4-1 MCVL) was led by Jack McClure with nine kills and Michael Bowler with eight kills.
 
Will Heeney led Mount Union with 31 assists while Aaron Armour picked up a game-high 13 digs.
 
Baldwin Wallace (21-7, 4-1 MCVL) was led by Michael Beard with nine kills, Brandon Long had 32 assist and Aiden Kim finished with 12 digs.
 
Mount Union won a close first set of 25-21 with 12 kills and just three errors while Baldwin Wallace had 10 kills and eight errors.
 
Set Two Mount Union dominated with 14 kills and just one error for a hitting percentage of .500 while Baldwin Wallace had seven kills and seven errors for .000 hitting percentage.
 
The final set Baldwin Wallace battled the Raiders hard but Mount Union pulled out a 29-27 win with 13 kills and seven errors while Baldwin Wallace had 16 kills and eight errors.
 
Mount Union finished the day with 39 kills, just 11 hitting errors, 34 assists, 30 digs, seven blocks and four service aces while Baldwin Wallace had 34 kills, 23 hitting errors, 33 assists, 30 digs, three service aces and two blocks.
 
Mount Union returns to play next Friday and Saturday. Friday the Raiders will head to St. Louis, Mo. to take on Fontbonne and Saturday head to Crawfordsville, Ind. for a match against Wabash.
