OLIVET, Michigan—The Mount Union men's volleyball team swept Olivet in straight sets 25-20, 25-18 and 25-19 to get conference play started on Friday night.
The Purple Raiders (11-4, 1-0 MCVL) was led by
Cameron Ternent (Massillon / Massillon Jackson) and
Luke Trzeciak (Cranberry, Pa. / Seneca Valley) with 12 and 10 kills each.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) picks up a game-high 40 assists while
Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) picked up 10 digs on the night and
Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) had six blocks.
Leading Olivet (4-8, 0-1 MCVL) was Deontay Thomas with 10 kills, Everett Haynes with 28 assists and seven digs.
Mount Union dominated the hitting with 50 kills on just 83 attempts and only 11 errors for a hitting percentage of .470. Olivet had 31 kills on 77 attempts and 12 errors for a hitting percentage of .247.
Mount Union finished with seven total team blocks to Olivet's two and Mount Union had 31 digs to Olivet's 20.
Mount Union continues play in Michigan tomorrow taking on Adrian at 1 p.m.
