ADRIAN, Michigan—The mount Union men's volleyball team swept Adrian 25-16, 25-21 and 25-21 to start 2-0 in Midwest Colligate Volleyball League play Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (12-4, 2-0 MCVL) were led by
Luke Trzeciak (Cranberry, Pa. / Seneca Valley) and
Cameron Ternent (Canal Fulton / Massillon Jackson) with 14 and 12 kills on hitting percentages of .667 and .556.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) finished with 22 assists and also led the team in digs with nine.
Adrian (10-6, 0-1) was led by Beck Fieldhouse with 11 kills, David Barona finished with 14 assists and Andrew Gawrisch had four digs.
In set one Mount Union hit .619 percent with 14 kills and just one error on 21 attempts while Adrian had 11 kills with three errors on 27 attempts for a .269 hitting percent.
Adrian was closer with the scores but the stats widened with Mount Union having 13 kills and just two errors for a .500 hitting percent while Adrian had eight kills with five errors for .115 hitting percent.
The final set saw Mount Union have 13 kills with two errors on just errors for .550 hitting percentage with Adrian having 15 kills and six errors for a .300 hitting percentage.
Mount Union will now return home to take on Hiram on Wednesday, March 15 at 7 p.m.
