AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Mount Union baseball team split a doubleheader with Saint Joseph's during its Florida trip on Thursday.
Saint Joseph's (1-4) scored all of its five runs in the second inning in its 5-2 win in game one. Mount Union (8-2) scored one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Junior

Jaired Lehman (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) (2-1) threw a complete game, giving up five runs on 11 hits and striking out four.
The Raiders bounced back in game two with an 8-7 victory. Mount scored first with a run in the first inning, however, the Monks took the lead in the second inning with three runs. The Raiders quickly regained the lead with a big four-run third inning, highlighted by an RBI-double by Lehman and an RBI-single by sophomore
Joe Lenart (Cleveland, Ohio / Garfield Heights). The Monks threatened to tie or take the lead in both the sixth and seventh innings, however, a dominant relief performance by senior
Cole Robinson (Lewis Center, Ohio / Olentangy) sealed the Mount win. In the sixth, Robinson came in with Saint Joseph's having runners on second and third with only one out. Robinson got out of the inning making the Monks hit into a double play. In the final inning, the Monks had the tying run on second with no outs before Robinson retired three-straight batters with strike outs (all swinging). Mount sophomore pitcher
Brady Hansen (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver Area) improved to a team-best 3-0, after throwing 5.1 innings and giving up three earned runs and striking out six. Robinson earned his team-high third save on the year, pitching 1.2 innings, only giving up three hits and two earned runs.
Mount is back on the diamond Friday, March 10 as it plays Grove City in a nine-inning game with a 1 p.m. start.
