ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's softball team swept Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader, winning game one 4-0 and winning game two 8-0 in five innings on Friday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders (17-5, 4-2 OAC) and the Cardinals (8-9-1, 2-2 OAC) were tied at zero heading into the bottom of the sixth inning and the sophomore Adri George (Eastlake / North) hit a two-run homerun to left field to give Mount Union a 2-0 lead. Then freshman Faith Kiko (North Canton / Hoover) hit a two RBI double that scored junior Lydia Wacker (Wellington / Black River) and sophomore Sami Swartz (Columbus / Grandview Heights) to extend the lead to 4-0. Otterbein wouldn't be able to answer in the seventh inning and the Raiders would go on to win 4-0.

The Raiders would strike first in game two when senior Grace Heath (Beloit / West Branch) hit an RBI single that scored Swartz to take a 1-0 lead. Mount Union would add to their lead in the fourth inning when senior Alexis Temple (Mentor) hit a two RBI single that scored freshmen Lydia Brunner (Minerva) and Kaitlyn Culver (Girard), then Heath stole home and Temple scored on a passed ball to extend the lead to 5-0. The Raiders would add three more runs to their lead in the bottom half of the fifth, the first two coming off a two RBI single from Heath and then freshman Sydney Mercer (Salem / West Branch) hit an RBI single to score Heath, as the Raiders would go on to win 8-0 in five innings.
