Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Clip Cardinals; Advance to OAC Championship for the First Time Since 2021

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's lacrosse team defeated Otterbein 19-7 in the semifinal of the OAC women's lacrosse tournament Wednesday night.
 
With the win the Purple Raiders will host No. 2-seed Capital in the OAC Championships in Alliance, Ohio.
 
The Raiders (13-3, 8-0 OAC) were led by senior Julia Bates (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) with six goals, junior Katie Clark (Hudson/Walsh Jesuit) with four goals, and senior Sam Karr (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) with 3 goals.
 
Junior Emily Nannarone (Stow/Stow Munroe Falls) finished with two goals while senior Madi Karr (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) and sophomore Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N.Y./Victor Senior) each scored once.
 
Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Haborfields) was big in cage for the Raiders making 12 saves.
 
Bates finished with a team-high three caused turnovers while Kesler, Leah Shutts (Buffalo, N.Y. / Amherst Central and Sam Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) each had three ground balls.
 
Otterbein (8-8, 3-5 OAC) were led by Carli Rigel with five goals while Maggie Nance made eight saves.
 
In the first quarter, S. Karr would score two goals. Juniors Eden Kessler (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and Clark would score one goal each. Otterbein would manage to score 3 goals as the Raiders were up 4-3 at the end of the first.
 
In the second quarter, Bates would score her first two goals of the game while Nannarone would score her first goal as well. Otterbein finished the quarter with two goals. Going into halftime, the Raiders kept their lead at 7-5.
 
Bates and Clark would lead Mount Union in scoring with three goals apiece in the third quarter. S. Karr, Nannarone, and Kessler would each score one goal each. The Raiders outscored the Cardinals 9-1 to give them a 16-6 lead going into the last quarter.
 
In the final quarter, the Raiders outscored Otterbein 3-1. M. Karr and Kolstad each scored their first goal of the game, while Bates got her sixth.
 
Mount Union will host Capital in the OAC Championship game in Kehres Stadium on Saturday. The time of the game is TBD.
