ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union men's soccer team outscored Bethany 2-0 in the second half to take a 3-1 victory in their home opener Tuesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (5-0) got on the board in the 2nd minute on a goal from senior
Jamon McCort (Magnolia / Sandy Valley) on the assist from
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele).
Under a minute later, Bethany (1-4) answered with a goal of their own. Pedro Chillemi found the back of the net to tie it up.
McCort struck again with his second goal of the game in the 54th minute, assisted by Hancock. Fifth year
Jon Szydlowski (Twinsburg /Â Twinsburg) and McCort double assisted to senior
Omar Najjar (Akron / Revere) for the Raiders third goal of the game in the 62nd minute.
Mount Union out shot Bethany 16-5, including a 7-3 advantage on goal.
The Raiders will be back in action at Kehres Stadium on Saturday September 15 at 5:00 p.m. against No. 11 nationally ranked Calvin.
