ADA, Ohio – The No. 9 nationally ranked Mount Union men's soccer team lost it Ohio Athletic Conference opener to Ohio Northern 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (9-1-0) struck first when senior
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) scored to take a 1-0 lead.
The Polar Bears (5-4-1) would tie the game in the 52
nd minute when William Shaffer found the back of the net off an assist from Ryan Sommerfeld. Ohio Northern would then take the lead in the 70
th minute, scoring off a goal by Colby Stolph, taking a 2-1 lead. Mount Union wouldn't be able to answer of the final 20 minutes of action as the Polar Bears would go on to win 2-1.
The Raiders are on the road again next when they travel to Berea to take on Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday, October 4 at 7 p.m.
