GROVE CITY, Pa. – Mount Union women's soccer team lost a non-conference matchup to Grove City 3-1 on Wednesday evening.
The Wolverines (2-1) would strike first when Emma Herrmann found the back of the net in the eighth minute to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Purple Raiders (1-1) would answer just under a minute later with a goal of their own in the ninth minute, when sophomore
Lauran Bailey (St. Paris / Graham) netted her first goal of the season to tie the game at one. Grove City would reclaim the lead in the 28
th minute off a goal from Gianna D'Amato and would take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.
The Wolverines would add to their lead in the 68
th minute when Emma Herrmann scored her second goal of the game to take a two-goal lead. Mount Union wouldn't be able to answer over the final 22 minutes, as Grove City would go on to win 3-1.
Junior goalkeeper
Rylee Oldfield (Liberty Twp. / Lakota East) recorded a career-high 15 saves in the game.
The Raiders are back home next for their home opener against Franciscan on Saturday, September 9 at 1 p.m.
