ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team fell at home 82-59 to John Carroll in Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday night.
The Purple Raiders (6-8, 3-4 OAC) were led by freshman
Elizabeth Mason (Alliance / Marlington) with 10 points while freshman
Reese Triplett (New Philadelphia / Tuscarawas Central Catholic) scored nine points.
John Carroll (9-6, 4-3 OAC) were led by Ava Ryncarz with 20 points and six rebounds while John Carroll finished with four double digit scorers.
John Carroll took control early going on a 16-4 run to take a 20-8 lead. Mount Union got within nine twice in the quarter, but John Carroll finished the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead 29-14.
The second quarter started on a John Carroll 9-0 run to take a 38-14 lead. Over the final six minutes John Carroll kept the lead and pushing it out to 50-20.
The second half saw Mount Union try a come back as they got within 18 twice but couldn't get closer than that.
Mount Union will hit the road for OAC play heading to Tiffin to take on Heidelberg on Saturday, January 13th with a 1 PM tip off.
