NEW CONCORD, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team fell in a tight battle against Muskingum 51-50 Wednesday night.
The Purple Raiders () were led by junior
Dae Dae Nash (Akron / Buchtel) with 18 points shooting nine of 18 from the field. Sophomore
Mckayla Dunkle (Cadiz / Harrison Central) finished the night with a game-high 12 rebounds.
Muskingum () was led by Claudia Harrington with 23 points and nine rebounds.
FIRST QUARTER
Muskingum got the game going with a jumper along with a three to lead 5-2. Mount Union finished the quarter on an 8-2 run with four different scorers taking a 10-7 lead at the end of the quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
Nash got the scoring going for the Raiders, but Muskingum responded with two threes to take a 13-12 lead. Two free throws from Mason gave Mount Union the lead back but Muskingum finished the quarter on a 7-2 run to take a 20-16.
THIRD QUARTER
Mount Union got the quarter going with a 14-2 run as Nash scored eight points in the run over the first five minutes. Muskingum then got a 6-0 but Mount Union finished the quarter on a 5-0 run.
FOURTH QUARTER
Mount Union got its largest lead of the night with a 7-3 run to take a 42-31 with six minutes left in the game. Muskingum would go on a 19-2 run to take a 50-44 lead with 41 second remaining. Nash got two layups to trail 50-48 with 20 second remaining. A free throw from Muskingum put them up three as a late Nash layup would finish the game off.
Mount Union returns home on Saturday to take on Capital at 2 PM.
