Football: #3 Mount Union Finishes Strong in Win at Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio – No. 3 Mount Union won, 42-13, at Ohio Northern in a road Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest on Saturday.
 
Junior quarterback Noah Beaudrie (Monroe, MI/Erie-Mason) threw for 145 yards and four touchdowns. Senior running back Tyler Echeverry (Naples, FL/Barron Collier) ran for 106 yards (5.0 avg.) and a 21-yard touchdown, his fifth career 100-yard rushing game and second straight, while adding two receiving touchdowns.
 
Beaudrie connected with classmate wide receiver Nick Turner (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) for a 74-yard touchdown for Turner's second 70+ touchdown catch of the season (had a career-long 83-yard touchdown at Baldwin Wallace). Turner now has two of the top-20 longest receptions in Mount Union history.
 
Senior Matt Anderson (Scottsdale, AZ/ Desert Mountain) had a 37-yard touchdown grab, his first as a Purple Raider. Graduate quarterback TJ Deshields (Beloit, OH/West Branch) added a five-yard touchdown run.
 
Mount Union remained undefeated at 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference, while Ohio Northern dropped to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in league play.
 
Beaudrie added another touchdown pass in the second quarter, this time to Echeverry from five yards out and the Raiders led 14-0. Mount led 14-7 at halftime. The Raiders outscored the Polar Bears 28-6 in the second half.
 
Senior Rossy Moore (Lima, OH/Lima Central Catholic) led defense with a game- and career-high 12 tackles, including a tackle for loss. Junior Kaleb Brown (La Plata, MD/La Plata) had game-highs of two sacks and three tackles for loss.
 
The Purple Raiders will continue on the road next week to Columbus as they face Capital on Saturday, Nov. 2 with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
