UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio—Mount Union's women's volleyball team took down John Carroll, 29-27, 25-16, 22-25 and 26-24, in the last Ohio Athletic Conference regular season matchup between the two teams on Wednesday night.
The Purple Raiders (13-6, 1-1 OAC) were led by
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Jospeh Academy) with 19 kills and 21 digs.
Sadie Thomas (Cambridge Springs, Pa. / Maplewood),
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) and
Alexis Meyer (Avon Lake) each had double digit kills with 17, 13 and 12. Bolen finished the night with nine blocks while Meyer had six.
Casey Kildow (Bethesda / Union Local) and
Melissa Hansen (Hudson) had 29 and 21 assists for the Raiders.
Averi Haley (Orrville) led the way on the defensive side with 23 digs while
Katelyn Lesko (Mineral Ridge) had 21, Kildow had 17 and Bolen finished with 12.
John Carroll (12-5, 1-1 OAC) was led by Hailey Williams with 18 kills, Haley Nicholson with 24 assists and Olivia Mogyordy with 36 digs.
Mount Union now will have its longest OAC road trip this weekend on Saturday taking on Wilmington at 11:30 am and also taking on Wittenberg at 1:30.
