ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's volleyball team survived and advanced to the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals defeating Muskingum 25-17, 23-25, 25-16, 13-25 and 25-10 Tuesday evening in the quarterfinals.
The Purple Raiders (19-9) were led by
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Jospeh Academy) with 13 kills and 20 digs while
Alexis Meyer (Avon Lake) and
Darby Leininger (Chardon / Beaumont) each had eight kills.
Melissa Hansen (Hudson) and
Casey Kildow (Bethesda / Union Local) had double digit assist with 22 and 15 respectively. Meyer along with
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) finished the day with eight blocks while
Cami Welty (Eastlake / Eastlake North) had seven.
Averi Haley (Orrville) finished with a game-high 37 digs while
Katelyn Lesko (Mineral Ridge) and Kildow had 21 and 19 assists.
Muskingum (13-12) was led by Mackenzie Krous with 17 kills, Alexis Bradley with 34 assists and Krous with 25 digs.
Mount Union now advances to the OAC Semifinals to take on No. 2-Seed Otterbein in a rematch of last year's tournament Championship.
