ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's volleyball team swept Capital, 25-23, 25-18, 25-8, on senior day in Ohio Athletic Conference play and earning the third overall seed in the OAC Tournament.
The Purple Raiders (18-9, 6-3 OAC) honored
Casey Kildow (Bethesda / Union Local),
Alexis Meyer (Avon Lake),
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy),
Katelyn Lesko (Mineral Ridge) and
Darby Leininger (Chardon / Beaumont) before the match as the five graduating seniors.
Bartell led the way on offense with 13 kills while Meyer, Leininger and
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) picked up seven kills.
Kildow finished with 19 assists while Hansen finished with 13. Mount Union kept up its blocking with 12 total team blocks as Bolen finished with seven assisted, Meyer had one solo and four assisted and
Cami Welty (Eastlake / Eastlake North) finished with four assisted.
Averi Haley (Orrville) led the team with 17 digs while Lesko had 11 and Bartell finished with 10.
Capital (9-17, 1-8 OAC) was led by Sophia Sobota with 11 kills, Emily Yanczura with 14 assists and Abby Brunner with 18 digs.
Mount Union will now get a week off till November 12
th where it will host the No. 6-seed Muskingum at 7 pm in the OAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
