Men's Basketball: Raiders Edged by Ramapo at D3hoops.com Classic

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Mount Union's men's basketball team lost a non-conference matchup against Ramapo 65-64 in their first game at the D3hoops.com Classic on Saturday evening.

The Purple Raiders (6-3) had two players score in double figures with fifth-year Christian Parker (Canton / GlenOak) and junior Kevin Moore (Youngstown / Campbell Memorial) both scoring 13 points, Parker also grabbed 10 rebounds to record his seventh double-double of the season.

The Roadrunners (8-3) were led by Jordan Myers who scored a game-high 23 points and Peter Gorman who added in 17 points.

Mount Union would jump out to an early 10-1 lead just under four minutes into the game before Ramapo would answer with a 7-0 run of their own over the next 2:28 of game time to cut the lead down to two with 13:50 left to play in the first half. The Raiders would maintain their lead over the next four and a half minutes of game time, with the largest lead being seven before the Roadrunners would slowly start chipping away at the lead over the next five minutes to tie the game at 25 apiece with just over four minutes remaining in the first half. Mount Union would outscore Ramapo 12-8 over the final 4:13 of the first half to take a slim 37-33 lead into the halftime break.

The Roadrunners opened the second half with an 11-2 run over the first 4:42 of the half to claim their first lead of the game. Over the next eight minutes of game time the Raiders would slowly chip away to regain the lead at 52-50 with seven and a half minutes remaining in the game. Mount Union would push their lead out to six over the next 5:19 of action, taking a 61-55 with 2:44 left to play. However, Ramapo would close the game on a 10-3 run over the final 2:44, including a pair of Myers free throws with just nine seconds remaining to claim the 65-64 lead and victory.

The Raiders are back in action again tomorrow for their final game at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas against Redlands at 4 pm. (Pacific)/7 p.m. (Eastern).
