ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team fell 57-52 to Capital in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (3-4, 0-2 OAC) was led by
Elizabeth Mason (Alliance / Marlington) with 11 points and eight assists while
Dae Dae Nash (Akron / Buchtel) scored 10 points.
Capital (6-0, 2-0 OAC) was led by Laney Murphy with 19 points, Bri O'Connor with 15 points and Samaree Perkins with a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
Capital came out and scored the first eight points of the game, but Mount Union responded outscoring Capital 15-6 the rest of the quarter to take a 15-14 lead into the first break.
The middle two quarters saw both teams score 25 points with Mount Union holding its one-point lead going into the final quarter. Capital however went on a 10-0 run in the middle of the fourth quarter to take a nine-point lead that Mount Union could not respond to only getting within four three times.
Mount Union now will have a week off before taking on Wilmington on Saturday, December 14
th at 1 pm in Wilmington.
