ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union baseball team won, 5-1, over Hiram in its home opener on Wednesday.
Mount Union (10-4) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and pulled away in the third with four runs, highlighted by a two-run home run by graduate
Zack Mazza (Flint, Mich. / Powers Catholic). Mazza extended his school record for career home runs to 32.
Hiram (5-4) spoiled the shut out with a run in the seventh.

Brady Hansen (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver Area), the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Pitcher of the Week, improved to 4-0 on the season, throwing 6.0 scoreless innings and striking out eight.
The Purple Raiders are back in action Saturday, March 16 with a single nine-inning game at Penn State Behrend, starting at 1 p.m.
