SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Mount Union men's volleyball team fell in straight sets, 25-22, 25-19 and 25-20, to Wittenberg Friday night in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League play.
The Purple Raiders (8-8, 2-1 MCVL) was led by
Jack McClure (Massillon / Massillon Jackson) and
Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) with 10 and seven kills respectively.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) led Mount Union in assists with 16 while
Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) led the Raiders with 11 digs.
Wittenberg (11-8, 2-0 MCVL) was led by Michael Yurk with 15 kills, Andrew Diaz de Padilla with 18 assists and Tom Supan with 10 digs.
Mount Union in the first set had a .148 hitting percentage with eight kills and four errors while Wittenberg had 13 kills with six errors for a hitting percentage of .250.
Wittenberg kept hot in the next set having 13 kills and just three errors for a hitting percentage of .357 while Mount Union had 10 kills and four errors for .231 hitting percentage.
The final set went the way of Wittenberg with 14 kills and seven errors while Mount Union had just six kills and three errors.
Mount Union turns around tomorrow to take on Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati with a 1 PM start.
