Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Drop Road Contest to Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team fell to Kenyon 19-5 in a nonconference matchup on Tuesday evening.
 
The Purple Raiders (5-1) were led by senior Eden Kesler (Chargin Falls / Kenston) with two goals, while Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N. Y. / Victor Senior), Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) and Ella Nejad (Rocky River) each got one goal.
 
Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) had 11 saves for the Raiders.
 
Leading Kenyon (4-3) was Kate Lengel with 4 goals and Lauren Gilbert with 3 groundballs.
 
FIRST QUARTER
Mount Union was able to come out strong getting the first goal of the game from Nejad. However, Kenyon was able to quickly answer with two goals making it 2-1 early in the first quarter. Mount Union was able to tie it up when Nejad found Clark for the point. Kenyon was able to break the tie making it 3-2 at the end of the quarter.
 
SECOND QUARTER
Kenyon was able to continue their momentum from the end of the previous quarter by going on a 6-0 scoring run. The Raiders were unable to find the net in this quarter, making the score going into halftime 9-2 with Kenyon still in the lead.
 
THIRD QUARTER
Kenyon stayed on their dominate run over Mount Union again going on a 7-0 scoring run again, which left Mount Union scoreless again in this quarter making the score going into the final quarter 16-2.
 
FOURTH QUARTER
The Purple Raiders used the final quarter to get a slight comeback going on a 3-0 scoring run to close the score gap 16-5, still trailing Kenyon. However, Kenyon was able to answer on a 3-0 scoring run of their own to close out the game making the final score 19-5.
 
Mount Union will return home to take on Capital in a rematch of last years OAC Championship game.
