Men's Lacrosse: Raiders Set Scoring Record in Home Opener

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team set a record for the most team goals in a game as they defeated Washington and Jefferson 29-5 Saturday afternoon at Kehres Stadium.
 
Mount Union's 29 goals is the most ever by the men's lacrosse team as the record was 28 against Thiel (Pa.) last year.
 
The Purple Raiders (3-1) were led by a 10-point day from Spencer Logsdon (Akron / Archbishop Hoban) with six goals and four assists.
 
Grant Dunmire (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton), Sly Sundown (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) and Vinny Marszalek (Angola, N.Y. / LakeShore) each scored three goals as Sundown and Marszalek each had an assist as well.
 
Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior), Braylon Li (Richfield / Revere), Josh Pasco (Wadsworth), Mark Zusman (Willoughby / Willoughby South), Todd Siford (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shaler), Obrigh Tallchief (Angola, N.Y. / LakeShore) and Robert Belknap (Concord / Gilmour Academy) each score two goals for Mount Union as Tallchief had four assists while Erwin had three.
 
Stephen Moschetta (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Trinity) picked up the victory in goal with three saves and Logan North () picked up seven ground balls.
 
Washington and Jefferson (1-2) was led by Aiden Herman and Paul Shook with two goals each while Colton powers made four saves.
 
Mount Union jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead which saw W&J go on a little 2-1 run as Mount Union finished the first quarter with a 3-0 run to lead 9-2. Mount Union kept all the momentum in the second quarter scoring nine more goals and allowing zero W&J goals to lead 18-2. The third quarter once again saw nine goals from Mount Union as W&J finished with two goals in the quarter with Mount Union leading 27-4. The final quarter Mount Union got two goals to W&J's one goal to finish off a 29-5 victory.
 
Mount Union now has a week break before a Saturday matchup at Wooster at noon.
