Men's Volleyball: Raiders Stay Perfect in MCVL Play

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's volleyball team won another four set victory, 25-19, 27-29, 25-16, and 25-20, over Adrian in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League action Saturday afternoon.
 
The Purple Raiders (8-7, 2-0 MCVL) was led by Jack McClure (Massillon / Massillon Jackson) with 18 kills. Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) and Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished the day with 12 and 10 kills. Bowler finished the day with just one error on 16 swings for a hitting percentage of .563.
 
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) finished the match with 45 assists while Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) finished with nine digs.
 
Adrian (9-9, 0-2 MCVL) was led by Chase Heuer with 16 kills, Andrew Gawrisch with 43 assists and Heuer with six digs.
 
Mount Union started set one the same as last night with 15 kills and just three hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .444 while Adrian had 12 kills and eight hitting errors for a .125 hitting percentage.
 
Adrian responded taking set two with 16 kills and eight hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .242 while Mount Union had almost identical hitting numbers with a hitting percentage of .242 with 13 kills and six errors.
 
Set three Mount Union found its grove again with 13 kills and four errors for a hitting percentage of .360 while Adrian had 12 kills and eight errors for a .133 hitting percentage.
 
The final set saw Mount Union have 11 kills and just three errors for a hitting percentage of .348 while Adrian had 12 kills and six errors for a hitting percentage of .240.
 
Mount Union now gets a two week break before heading to Springfield, Ohio to take on Wittenberg at 7 PM in a battle of teams that split the MCVL regular season title last year.
