ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's volleyball swept Wabash, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-18, Friday night in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League play.
The Purple Raiders (11-9, 5-2 MCVL) was led by
Jack McClure (Massillon / Massillon Jackson) and
Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) with 14 and 11 kills.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) led the Raiders in assists with 41 while
Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) finished with nine digs.
Wabash (14-9, 2-4 MCVL) was led by Zev Wolverton with 18 kills, Julian Alvizo with 23 assists and Ricky Sessions with seven digs.
Mount Union hit a red hot .391 with 46 kills with just 12 errors on 87 attempts. Wabash hit well at .258 but had just 39 kills with 15 errors on 93 attempts. Mount Union led in blocks with five compared to Wabash's three and Mount Union out dug Wabash 34-23.
Mount Union remains home with a match against Fontbonne (Mo.) tomorrow on Saturday at 1 PM. With a win tomorrow the Purple Raiders will have a chance to clinch a trip to the MCVL tournament semifinals.
