AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Mount Union baseball team finished its Florida trip on Saturday with a convincing, 12-6, win over Stockton in its second game of the day.
The Purple Raiders lost game one, 6-5, to Salve Regina, however regrouped with their big win over Stockton where they battled back from being down 3-0 early after two innings of play. Junior
Joe Lenart (Cleveland, Ohio / Garfield Heights) connected on the game-tying RBI in the fourth and graduate
Eric Schilling (Stow, Ohio / Stow-Munroe Falls) hit a two-run double in the seventh for the Raiders' first lead of the game which they maintained. Schilling and classmate
Zack Mazza (Flint, Mich. / Powers Catholic) led the Raider offense with three RBIs each. Junior
Jackson Powell (Cleveland, Ohio / Lakewood St. Edward) connected on his first collegiate home run. Senior
Jaired Lehman (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) (1-0) earned the win, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing three runs off three hits and struck out four.
In game one, Mount Union led 5-2 going into the ninth, before Salve Regina scored four in the final inning to pull out the heartbreaking win. Lehman led Mount Union with a pair of RBIs. Junior
Zachary Breeden (Cincinnati, Ohio / Cincinnati Elder) pitched solid in the no decision; 6.2 innings – allowing only two runs off seven hits and striking out six.
Mount Union (9-4) will return to Ohio and host Hiram on Wednesday, March 13 with a 2 p.m. start.
