Women's Lacrosse: Senior Day Frenzy; Raiders Take Down Ohio Northern in OAC Play

ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union senior Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) tied two school records in Mount Union's 19-8 Senior Day victory over Ohio Northern in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon.
 
Clark had eight assists tying the school record that she and 2019 graduate Ashley Bernardi share and has now tied the career points record with 321 points tying Bernardi as well.  
 
Mount Union honored its six graduating seniors before the game with Britta Treu (Auburn Township / Kenston), Tara Santoro (Canfield), Gillian Maffit (Mentor), Isabella Robatin (Brecksville / Brecksville-Broadview Heights), Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) and Clark as the seniors combined for 12 assists and 11 goals.
 
The Purple Raiders (10-3, 5-1 OAC) was led by Clark with 11 points as she had three goals and eight assists. Kesler was the top scorer with five goals while Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior) finished with four goals.
 
Santoro and Emily Funk (Strongsville) finished with three goals while Ella Nejad (Rocky River) finished with one.
 
Santoro, Robatin and Delaney Brown (Butler, Pa. / Butler Area ) finished with two caused turnovers while goalie Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) finished with a career-high 15 saves and six ground balls. Lindkvist now has 262 saves in her junior career.
 
Ohio Northern (9-7, 3-4 OAC) was led by Emma Hoersten with three goals while Chole Millican finished with eight saves.
 
FIRST QUARTER
Ohio Northern started the game with a goal but Clark tied the game up quickly after. Ohio Northern once again took the lead with a goal but a goal from Kolstad and then Nejad gave Mount Union a 3-2 lead. Ohio Northern tied the game at three but two Santoro goals gave Mount Union the lead. One more goal from Ohio Northern in the quarter would be the closest the Polar Bears would be the rest of the way.
 
SECOND QUARTER
Mount Union scored six goals in the second quarter and the defense shut down Ohio Northern not allowing a goal over those 15 minutes. Kesler scored two while Funk, Clark, Santoro and Kolstad each had a goal.
 
THIRD QUARTER

 Ohio Northern got the first and last goal of the quarter but a 5-0 run for Mount Union which included two from Kesler and Funk along with a Clark goal gave Mount Union a 16-6 lead going into the final quarter.
 
FOURTH QUARTER
The final quarter saw Kolstad get an early goal. The rest of the way each team got two goals as Mount Union got another goal from Kolstad and Kesler to finish off the 19-8 win.
 
Mount Union has now clinched a top three seed into the OAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament and with a win on Wednesday will at least have a share of the regular season title. Mount Union heads to University Heights to take on John Carroll in the regular season finale at 7 PM.
