Track and Field: Purple Raiders to Send 14 Student Athletes to NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The University of Mount Union will send 14 student-athletes (10 men and four women) to the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships Thursday through Saturday, May 23-25 at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
 
The top eight finishers in each event earn All-American honors. The top 22 male and female times/marks in each event along top 16 relay teams in the nation have qualified for the meet.
 
Mount Union's women's team, ranked No. 16 in the nation, has six top 10 finishes in its history that being a seventh-place finish in 2012, ninth place at the 2013, its best indoor finish being last year with a fifth-place finish and this year placing sixth in the NCAA Indoor meet while its best finish being third overall in the 2012 Outdoor nationals and had a seventh place finish last outdoor season.
 
Mount Union's men's team, ranked No. 13 in the nation, has won an outdoor title in 2014 and 2018 and indoor title in 2018 and has been in the top 10 16 different times.
 
Headlining the women's entries is senior Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W.Va. / Wheeling Central Catholic) qualified to four events. She is ranked fifth in the 400-Meters, ranked 10th in the 200-Meters, ranked 8th in the 100-meters and is part of the 4x400-Meter Relay that is ranked fourth.
 
Senior Madison Miles (Brunswick / Padua Franciscan) qualified in two events being 9th in the 400-Meters and the 4x400-Meter relay that is ranked fourth.
 
Mary Mason (Alliance / Marlington) qualified in two events being 14th in the 800-Meters and in the 4x400-Meter relay currently ranked fourth.
 
Elizabeth Funkhouser (Carrollton) will join the three on the 4x400-Meter relay as well.
 
Headlining the men's entries is the 4x100-Meter relay team of Seniors Jared Storm (Barberton), Tyler Gill (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds), Tylir Shannon (Transfer, Pa. / Reynolds) and Vinny Zeren (Louisville / St. Thomas Aquinas) who is ranked second.
 
Seniors Justin Knoch (Canton / GlenOak), Matt McBride (Conneaut), Josh Fouche (Cuyahoga Falls / Walsh Jesuit) along with junior Haden Gibson (Brookfield) in the 4x400-Meter running the ninth fastest time.
 
McBride along with Knoch qualified individually for the open 400-Meters ranking fifth and 18th.
 
Junior Drake Willenborg (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon East) is ranked sixth in the Discus.
 
Senior Vincent Giumenti (Dover) qualified in the 1,500-Meters ranked 21st.
