TIFFIN, Ohio – The Mount Union men's track and field team won its 13th straight and OAC record 40th title Friday afternoon at the Ohio Athletic Conference Track and Field Championship hosted by Heidelberg University.
The Purple Raiders scored 201 points which bested second place John Carroll by 67 points who had 144. Head coach
Kevin Lucas and the rest of the men's staff won the men's coaching staff of the year.
Tyler Gill (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds),
Tylir Shannon (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds),
Aidan Malloy (League City, Tx. / Clear Springs) and
Vinny Zeren (Louisville / St. Thomas Aquinas) set an OAC record winning the 4x100-Meter relay with a time of 40.35 which currently ranks second in Division III.
Gill teamed up with
Matt McBride (Conneaut),
Justin Knoch (Canton / GlenOak) and
Josh Fouche (Cuyahoga Falls / Walsh Jesuit) to win the 4x400-Meter relay with a time of 3:11.73 which is third in Division III.
Blaine Kitchen (Tontogany / Otsego) won the 400-Meter hurdles with a time of 53.40 which is tied for 15th in Division III.
Dominic Deshuk (Amherst / Steele) finished runner-up with a time of 53.61 which is 20th in Division III currently.
Vincent Giumenti (Dover) grabbed the victory in the 1,500-Meters with a time of 3:48.69 which ranks him 11th in Division III.
Mason Kutz (Dalton) grabbed the runner-up spot with a 3:50.24.
Picking up All-OAC honors was McBride running a 46.89 to finish third in the 400-Meters and sits fifth in Division III, Deshuk also picked up third in the 110-Meter hurdles with a time of 14.83,
Carter Lewis (Alliance) in the shot-put finishing third with a throw of 51-feet 2.25-inches, and finishing third in the 5,000-Meters was Jeff Jospeh (Beloit / West Branch) with a time of 14:38.49.
Also picking up top 20 national marks was Knoch in the 400-Meters finishing fourth with a 47.50 which is 15
th.
Mount Union will now head to the BW Twilight meet next Friday in Berea, Ohio for a last chance meet.
