Men's Soccer: Raiders Fall to No. 4 Mary Washington

RICHMOND, Va. – Mount Union's men's soccer team lost to no. 4 nationally ranked Mary Washington 3-1 on Friday evening.

The Eagles (4-0) struck first when Nelsar Castillo found the back of the net in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead. Mary Washington would add to their lead in the 33rd minute when Castillo scored his second goal of the game, then a little over a minute later Juan Vargas would score to stretch the Eagle lead to three goals.

The Purple Raiders (3-2) would answer with a goal of their own in the 55th minute when senior Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) was able to find the back of the net off an assist from junior Luka Dedic (Eastlake / North) to cut the lead to two goals. However, that is as close as they would get as the Eagles would go on to win 3-1.

The Raiders return to action on Sunday, September 15 at 10:30 a.m. against Hampden-Sydney in Richmond, Va.
