ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's soccer team defeated Allegheny 6-1 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Gators (0-3) would strike first when Darius Googe was able to find the back of the net in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead.
The Purple Raiders (2-1) would answer with a goal of their own in the 13
th minute when freshman
Amir Spratt (Kent / Kent Roosevelt) scored off an assist from sophomore
Alex Depperschmidt (Mansfield / Lexington) to tie the game at one. Mount Union would take their first lead of the game in the 22
nd minute when Depperschmidt was able to find sophomore
Dom Kustura (Willowick / Eastlake North), then just under six minutes later Kustura would score his second goal of the game off another assist from Depperschmidt to take a 3-1 lead.
Junior
Nyiles Spann (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) would find the back of the net in the 62
nd minute, scoring off an assist from fifth-year
Jordan Akins (Cuyahoga Falls) to make the lead three goals. Then, in the 79
th minute Spratt would score his second goal of the afternoon and the final goal came in the 90
th minute when freshman
David Hoebeke (Alliance / Marlington) netted his first career goal off an assist from senior
Cody Lumby (Sunbury / Big Walnut) to give Mount Union the 6-1 victory.
The Raiders are back in action again tomorrow as they wrap up the Mount Union Classic at 1 p.m. against Transylvania in Kehres Stadium.
