Men's Soccer: Raiders Down Transylvania at Home

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's soccer team beat Transylvania 3-1 in a non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders (3-1) struck first when fifth-year Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) scored of an assist from sophomore Dom Kustura (Willowick / Eastlake North) in the seventh minute to take a 1-0 lead. Mount Union would add to their lead in the 22nd minute when junior Reese Utter (Dover) found freshman Asher Hart (Akron / Copley) for his first career goal.

The Pioneers (1-1-1) would cut into the lead in the 34th minute when Josh Carr was able to find the back of the net off an assist from JT Roden to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Raiders would extend the lead back to two goals in the 59th minute this time scoring off a goal from freshman Amir Spratt (Kent / Kent Roosevelt) to make the lead 3-1. Transylvania wouldn't have an answer over the final 31 minutes of action as Mount Union would go on to win 3-1.

The Raiders hit the road next when they travel to Richmond, Va. to take on no. 9 nationally ranked Mary Washington at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 13.
