NEW CONCORD, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team led wire to wire in a 70-38 victory over Muskingum as Head Coach
Suzy Venet grabbed career win 300 Wednesday night in Ohio Athletic Conference play.
The Purple Raiders (7-9, 2-7 OAC) were led by
Elizabeth Mason (Alliance / Marlington) with 13 points.
Tess Conroy (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights), and
Lily Scott (Youngstown / Ursuline) each scored 12 points while
Abby Muckleroy (Canfield) scored 11.
Muskingum (4-12, 2-7 OAC) was led by Julia Jaenke with 12 points.
Mason got six of the first eight points for the Raiders as they jumped out to an 8-4 lead. Mount Union went on a 14-0 run in the middle of the quarter to take an 18-4 lead. Buckets from both teams ended the first quarter as Mount Union had a 21-6 lead.
Mount Union used its defense to hold Muskingum to just five points in the second quarter while scoring 12 points to take a 33-11 lead.
Mount Union got its largest lead of the night in the third quarter on a Muckleroy three pointer leading 60-19. Mount Union once again held Muskingum to single digit scoring with nine points while scoring 27 taking a 60-20 lead into the fourth quarter.
Muskingum closed the scoring gap to 30 but Mount Union pushed the lead back out to 38 and taking a 70-38 win.
Mount Union remains on the road as they head to Capital on Saturday with a 1 PM start.
