MARIETTA, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball fell to Marietta 68-48 in Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday night.
The Purple Raiders (5-7, 0-5 OAC) were led by freshman
Chelsea Evanich (Alliance / Marlington) with 13 points while sophomore
Tess Conroy () finished with nine points.
Marietta (8-3, 3-2 OAC) was led by Ally Grake with 12 points while Paige Tolson finished with 10 points and six assists.
Marietta jumped out to a 13-3 lead but the Raiders battled back with eight straight points as Conroy had five points in the run. Marietta finished the quarter on a 7-3 run to lead 20-14.
Mount Union came out on a 5-3 run to start the second quarter closing the score down to 23-19. Marietta finished the quarter on a 14-2 run taking a 39-23 lead into halftime.
In the middle of the third quarter Evanich went on a 5-0 run by herself to get Mount Union within 11 at 45-34. Another run from Marietta finished the third quarter as they took a 52-34 lead into the final quarter. The final quarter saw Marietta outscore Mount Union 16-14 as Mount Union got within 15 twice but couldn't get any closer.
Mount Union returns home on Saturday taking on Heidelberg at 1 PM in OAC play.
