Football: No. 2 Mount Union Explodes in Second Half with 38-6 Win at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio – The No. 2 nationally ranked Mount Union football team came out at halftime with a vengeance, scoring 24 unanswered points for a 38-6 win at Heidelberg on the road on Saturday.

The Purple Raiders remained undefeated at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the OAC.

Sophomore RB Kayden Minner (New Madrid, MO/New Madrid County Central) had a career day with 104 yards rushing (8.7 avg.) and totaled a career-high three touchdowns—he did all the game's scoring in the third quarter. His five-yard receiving touchdown was his first career reception.

Senior Kaleb Brown (La Plata, MD/La Plata) led the defense with a game- and career-high 10 tackles, including a sack, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a breakup. He climbs the school's career sack leader ranks and is now tied for fourth with 26.5.

Senior CB Kosta Thrasivoulou (North Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville) pocketed two interceptions—the most by a Raider in a game since Brandon Yanssens had two picks vs. Muskingum in 2023.

Junior WR Davion Grant (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) led all receivers with 97 receiving yards. Senior WR Jacob Cockrell (Stockbridge, GA/Dutchtown) had 85 receiving yards off a game-high six receptions. Graduate RB Darnell Williams (Cleveland, OH/John Adams) had 74 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Mount Union outgained the Student Princes 427 to 255 in total yards (7.6 avg. yards per play compared to 3.5). Heidelberg drops to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Mount Union will be back home on Saturday, Oct. 25, as it hosts Ohio Northern with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
