TIFFIN, Ohio – The No. 2 nationally ranked Mount Union football team came out at halftime with a vengeance, scoring 24 unanswered points for a 38-6 win at Heidelberg on the road on Saturday.
The Purple Raiders remained undefeated at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the OAC.
Sophomore RB
Kayden Minner (New Madrid, MO/New Madrid County Central) had a career day with 104 yards rushing (8.7 avg.) and totaled a career-high three touchdowns—he did all the game's scoring in the third quarter. His five-yard receiving touchdown was his first career reception.
Freshman QB
Mikey Maloney (Concord Township, OH/Painesville Riverside) finished 16 for 23 for 223 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, to go along with 20 yards on the ground. Maloney had his impressive streak of attempts without an interception snap at 126 attempts.
Senior
Kaleb Brown (La Plata, MD/La Plata) led the defense with a game- and career-high 10 tackles, including a sack, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a breakup. He climbs the school's career sack leader ranks and is now tied for fourth with 26.5.
Senior CB
Kosta Thrasivoulou (North Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville) pocketed two interceptions—the most by a Raider in a game since
Brandon Yanssens had two picks vs. Muskingum in 2023.
Junior WR
Davion Grant (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) led all receivers with 97 receiving yards. Senior WR
Jacob Cockrell (Stockbridge, GA/Dutchtown) had 85 receiving yards off a game-high six receptions. Graduate RB
Darnell Williams (Cleveland, OH/John Adams) had 74 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Senior TE
Wyatt Stiehl (Tampa, Fla./East Lake) caught a 1-yard TD. Junior
Ivan Maric (Falls Church, VA/Mclean) made a 38-yard field goal. Senior
Brandon Bowden (Gainesville, FL/Gainesville) had his first career strip sack, part of four tackles on the day.
Mount Union outgained the Student Princes 427 to 255 in total yards (7.6 avg. yards per play compared to 3.5). Heidelberg drops to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Mount Union will be back home on Saturday, Oct. 25, as it hosts Ohio Northern with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
