TIFFIN, Ohio – Mount Union's men's soccer team defeated Heidelberg X-X in Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday evening.
The Purple Raiders (9-2-3, 2-1-1 OAC) would strike first when sophomore
Amir Spratt (Kent / Kent Roosevelt) scored off an assist from junior
Alex Depperschmidt (Mansfield / Lexington) in the 11
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Depperschmidt would then score a goal of his own in the 23
rd minute off an assist from Spratt to stretch the lead to two goals.
Mount Union would add a third goal before halftime; this time senior
Braedon Kennedy (Strongsville) found the back of the net in the 29
th minute to make the lead three goals.
The Raiders would score their fourth goal of the game in the 56
th minute when Depperschmidt was able to find junior
Dom Kustura (Willowick / Eastlake North) to make the lead 4-0. Then, in the 82
nd minute sophomore
Jackson Ahebwa (Hurricane, W.Va.) scored his first career goal off an assist from freshman
Matt Caputo (Hudson) to stretch the lead to five goals. Sophomore
Cameron Hernandez (Saltsburg, Pa. / Kiski Prep) would score his first career goal in the 89
th minute to make the score 6-0.
The Student Princes (2-13, 0-5 OAC) wouldn't have an answer as Mount Union would go on to win 6-0.
The Raiders return home next when they host OAC opponent Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday, October 22 in Kehres Stadium at 7 p.m.
