Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Drop First Game of Spring Break Trip

MEMPHIS, Tennessee—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team fell to Rhodes 14-11 Thursday afternoon in a non-conference battle.
 
The Purple Raiders (4-3) were led by Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) with three goals and three assists. Reese Fuenfstueck (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) finished the game with two goals and three assists while Ella Nejad (Rocky River) and Mae Pawlikowski (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Orchard Park) finished with two goals.
 
Liz Schumacher (Columbus / Upper Arlington) and Emma Labbe (Uniontown / Lake) each finished with one goal.
 
Eden Kesler (Chargin Falls / Kenston) led Mount Union with four caused turnovers, Abby Reagan (Columbus / St. Francis De Sales) finished with four grounds balls and Nejad had six draw controls.
 
Reagan and Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) split time this game as Reagan made nine saves and Lindkvist made eight saves.
 
Rhodes (5-3) had five different two goal scorers as Molly Hendrick led the team with four points (two goals and two assists). Hendrick and Daryn Raleigh finished with four ground balls each while Olivia Wood made 14 saves in goal.
 
Mount Union got on the board first with a goal from Clark but Rhodes immediately responded with a goal. Fuenfstueck grabbed a goal for Mount Union taking a 2-1 lead but Rhodes responded with two goals to end the quarter leading 3-2.
 
Mount Union came out in the second quarter with a 3-0 run with a goal from Fuenfstueck, Labbe and Clark taking a 5-3 lead. Rhodes responded with a 6-0 run to end the second quarter and took a 9-5 lead into the second half.
 
Both teams scored two goals in the third quarter as Clark and Pawlikowski scored for Mount Union. Mount Union tried to comeback in the fourth starting with a 4-1 run as Nejad scored two goals and Pawlikowski with Schumacher scored one goal got Mount Union within two but a goal from Rhodes ended the comeback and game.
 
Mount Union will now head to Sewanee, Tenn. to take on Sewanee College on Saturday at 1 CT/2 ET.
