ALLIANCE, Ohio— Mount Union's men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place after the first round of the Mount Union Spring Invitational at Tannenhauf G.C. on Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders finished with a team score of 318, which is just three strokes behind fourth place Heidelberg. Malone leads the event with a team score of 298.
Sophomore Brian Myers (Wadsworth) led the way for Mount Union, carding a 74, which also puts him in a tie for fourth place as an individual. Senior Owen Hinkle (Loudonville) also carded a round in the 70s, shooting a 78, while freshmen Vincent Borros (Strongsville) and Thomas Pesa (Youngstown / Ursuline) both carded an 83 to round out the Raiders team score.
The Raiders are back in action again tomorrow for the final round of the Mount Union Spring Invitational at Tannenhauf G.C. in Alliance.
