ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's volleyball team won its Ohio Athletic Conference opener 23-25, 25-18, 25-22 and 25-18 Saturday afternoon.
Mount Union (6-4, 1-0 OAC) honored its three graduating seniors before the game in
Allie Gunn (Olmsted Falls / Magnificat),
Jordin Kauffman (Avon) and
Ryann Kanable (Powell / Olentangy Liberty).
The Purple Raiders had five girls hit double digits.
Molly McKee (North Ridgeville) finished with 13,
Sadie Thomas (Cambridge Springs, Pa. / Maplewood),
Riley Meister (Madison) and
Zoe Sweigart (Canal Winchester) each had 11 kills while
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) finished with 10.
DeLani Durst (Clyde) and
Anna Mihacevich (Hinkley / Pauda Franciscan) finished with 34 and 18 assists respectively.
Averi Haley (Orrville) led the way with 24 digs while Thomas had 19,
Sam Cantrell (Eastlake / Eastlake North) finished with 17 digs and Durst had 12.
Wilmington (0-8, 0-1 OAC) was led by Lydia Bridenbaugh with 14 kills, Kyra Frasier with 23 assists and Logan McQuillin with 26 digs.
Mount Union will now head Washington D. C. next Friday and Saturday competing at the Worthington Classic at Gallaudet University.
