HIRAM, Ohio—Mount Union's women's volleyball team split a pair of five set thrillers Saturday afternoon at Hiram College.
Mount Union (8-9) began the day charging back from a two to one set deficit over St. Vincent (Pa.) (2-8) 25-17, 18-25, 12-25, 25-15 and 15-7.
Sadie Thomas (Cambridge Springs, Pa. / Maplewood) and
Molly McKee (North Ridgeville) led the way with 14 kills each.
DeLani Durst (Clyde) and
Anna Mihacevich (Hinkley / Padua Franciscan) finished with 31 and 17 assists respectively.
Averi Haley (Orrville) picked up 23 digs with Thomas having 16,
Sam Cantrell (Eastlake / Eastlake North) 14 digs and Durst with 13.
In the second match of the day Mount Union fell to Hiram (12-1) in five sets 25-23, 25-20, 24-26, 16-25 and 7-15.
Thomas led the way with 19 kills while Riley Mesiter (Madison) finished with 12 kills and
Ryann Kanable (Powell / Olentangy Liberty) and
Lily Kekic (Berea / Berea-Midpark) finished with 10.
Durst led the way with 32 assists while Mihacevich had 19 total.
Haley finished the match with 33 digs with Durst picking up 24 balls, Thomas having 20 digs and Cantrell along with Mihacevich each had 14 digs.
Mount Union will welcome Otterbein to Alliance on Friday, October 3rd at 7 pm for Ohio Athletic Conference play.
