No. 2 nationally ranked Mount Union will host Otterbein on homecoming for its first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) home game. The Purple Raiders are coming off a 42-23 win at Baldwin Wallace in their OAC opener. The Cardinals, who are looking to stop a six-game skid dating back to last season, are coming off back-to-back OAC losses, including last week's 37-13 homecoming loss to Muskingum. Saturday's game will be the 57th meeting in the all-time series, with the Purple Raiders winning 45 straight and the overall lead in the series at 52-4 (.929). Mount has registered eight shutouts in the last 13 meetings. Otterbein's last win against Mount Union was in 1977 in Alliance (24-17). The Raiders have scored over 50 points against the Cardinals in nine of the last 10 meetings, while Otterbein has only scored 56 points combined in those 10 games (5.6 points average) and has been shut out five times. Mount Union started its 128th season with back-to-back wins against nationally ranked opponents (W, 37-29 over #17 Wheaton and W, 49-14 over #15 Grove City). Otterbein did score 31 points in its 47-31 loss at Marietta on Sept. 13, which is the most points the undefeated Marietta Pioneers have given up so far this season.
