NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The No. 24 Mount Union Purple Raiders put on a clinic as they toppled Muskingum, 65-7, for their first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) win of the season.
Mount Union (2-2, 1-1 OAC) set a school record for total yards with 786, averaging 9.2 yards per play.
The Raiders totaled 422 yards on the ground, with an average of 9.2 per rush, led by freshman Bo Bokman (Lakeville, MN/Lakeville South), who ran for a career-high 137 yards, his second-straight 100-yard game, and had a career-high three rushing touchdowns.
Junior Kayden Minner (New Madrid, MO/New Madrid County Central) finished with 113 for his fifth career 100-yard game, to go along with two rushing scores, marking the first time two Purple Raiders had 100 yards rushing each since Wilmington last season, when Minner and Darnell Williams achieved it.
Junior WR Mason Ashby (North Canton, OH/North Canton Hoover) recorded his third-straight 100-yard receiving game with a game-high 112 receiving yards off a game- and career-high nine receptions, along with a touchdown.
Junior QB Mikey Maloney (Concord Township, OH/Painesville Riverside) threw for 350 yards, his fifth career 300-yard game, and three touchdowns.
Sophomore Jordan Johnson (Cleveland, Ohio/Gates Mills Hawken) made the most of his first career opportunity in the backfield with seven carries for 80 yards (including a long of 57) and his first career touchdown, while freshman Ezra Jones (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) ran for a career-high 72 yards off eight carries.
Sophomore WR O.P. Knox (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla./North Broward Prep.) also scored a touchdown with a career-high 81 yards receiving.
Mount Union's defense held the Muskies under 262 in total yards, including 64 on the ground. Four Raiders ran over 70 yards rushing individually.
Sophomore LB Jace Radford (Temple, GA/Villa Rica) led Mount Union's defense with a career-high seven tackles.
Junior DB Zack Liebler (Massillon, OH/Massillon) and sophomore S Dallas Richardson (Ocala, FL/North Marion) both had an INT, a team-high three for Richardson.
Muskingum (0-4, 0-3 OAC) spoiled the shutout with a touchdown with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter.
For the game, Mount had a 35-13 advantage in first downs.
Just in the first half, the Raiders produced 467 total yards, averaging almost a first down every play averaging 9.7 yards.
The Raiders are back home next Saturday, Oct. 10, with their homecoming game vs. Marietta. Kickoff at Kehres Stadium is 1:30 p.m.
