Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Ice Polar Bears; Earn Share of Ninth OAC Regular Season Title

ADA, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team clinched at least a share and the No. 1-seed in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament after a 16-5 victory over Ohio Northern Saturday afternoon.
 
The Purple Raiders (9-5, 5-0 OAC) were led by a six goal two assist performance from Haylee Handrahan powering the Raiders past Ohio Northern.
 
Emma Labbe added three goals with Mae Pawlikowski and Ella Nejad each scoring two goals for Mount Union.
 
Emma Kielbasa, Lizzie Dorley and Ana Weinel each scored a goal for the Raiders.
 
Pawlikowski led the team in caused turnovers while Abby Reagan made seven saves in goal and led the team in ground balls with five.
 
Ohio Northern (9-7, 3-2 OAC) was led by Abbi Arnold and Jaxsyn Murdock with two goals each while Kara Fox made seven saves in goal.
 
Mount Union came out firing scoring four goals in the first quarter and holding Ohio Northern scoreless. Scoring for Mount Union was Handrahan with two with Pawlikowski and Labbe each scoring one.
 
Mount Union pushed out to a 6-0 lead in the second quarter with a goal from Handrahan and Pawlikowski. Ohio Northern responded with two straights but a goal from Kielbasa kept the lead at five. Ohio Northern grabbed one more, but Labbe got Mount Union one last goal before the half as the Raiders led 8-3.
 
Handrahan personally outscored Ohio Northern 3-2 over the first nine minutes of the third quarter. Dorley, Labbe and Nejad each added a goal before the end of the quarter as Mount Union took a 14-5 lead into the final quarter.
 
Weinel and Nejad scored the only goals in the fourth quarter as Mount Union's defense held Ohio Northern scoreless once again in a full quarter.
 
Mount Union will have one last regular season game against Marietta at home on Wednesday at 7 pm. With a win Mount Union will earn an outright OAC Regular Season Title on Wednesday.
