ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union's women's lacrosse team defeated Marietta 22-2 winning the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title outright Wednesday evening.
Mount Union picked up its fourth straight and ninth regular season league title along with it being the sixth outright over the OAC this season going 6-0.
The Purple Raiders (10-5, 6-0 OAC) were led by
Ella Nejad with an eight-point day scoring five goals and three assists.
Mae Pawlikowski picked up three goals,
Emma Kielbasa,
Anna Weinel,
Reese Fuenfstueck,
Olivia Bardeschewski and
Mackenzie Brown scored two goals while
Lizzie Dorley,
Haylee Handrahan,
Emma Labbe and
Abby Harps each scored one goal.
Kielbasa and
Alexa Udovicic finished with five ground balls each with
Abby Reagan picking up the win in goal playing 45 minutes making seven saves.
Marietta (7-8, 2-4 OAC) was led by Mallory Wiles and Molly Dickens with one goal each while Tessa Labrasciano finished with three saves.
Marietta got on the board first, but Mount Union responded with five straight goals as five different Raiders scored in the run. Marietta got their second goal in the first quarter, but Mount Union responded with a goal from Nejad to end the quarter.
Mount Union's defense showed up the remaining three quarters, shutting out Marietta the rest of the way as the offense scored eight in the second, five in the third and three in the fourth to end the game.
Mount Union will now host the No. 4-seed Ohio Northern in the OAC Semifinals on Wednesday at 7 pm.
