GROVE CITY, Pennsylvania—Mount Union's women's volleyball team picked up two victories Saturday afternoon at the Grove City Coaches vs Cancer Invitational.
Mount Union (10-2) picked up 21 blocks in the second match of the day against Denison which is the most for the Purple Raiders since Mount Union had 17 against Ohio Northern in 2018.
Mount Union also picked up wins number seven and eight straight, the longest streak since 2023 which saw 12 straight wins.
In the first match of the day Mount Union swept Waynesburg (1-9) 25-14, 25-11 and 25-21.
Skylar Schmidt (Tallmadge / Archbishop Hoban) led Mount Union with six kills while
Averi Haley (Orrville) picked up 12 digs.
DeLani Durst (Clyde) finished the match with 21 assists while
Anna Mihacevich (Hinkley / Padua Franciscan) added 11 assists.
In the second match of the day Mount Union took down Denison (4-8) 20-25, 25-23, 25-15 and 25-16.
Zoe Sweigart (Canal Winchester) led the way with 14 kills while
Riley Meister (Madison) finished with eight kills.
The massive blocking day was led by
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) finished the game with 11 assisted blocks while
Cami Welty (Willowick / Eastlake North) finished with nine total as she had two solo and seven assisted.
Haley led the way in digs with 17 total while
Lanie Schultz (South Park, Pa.) picked up three service aces.
Mount Union returns home on Tuesday to take on Hiram at 7 pm.
